STAR Opened Free Health Centre at Bagh

STAR Foundation opened a Free Health Center in the District Bagh, an earthquake affected area of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan. In the District Bagh there is a lack of health facilities especially for women diseases, a single District Hospital cannot fulfill the needs of people. This district hospital is always overfilled with patients. There are also some private clinics but their check up fees are very high, poor people cannot afford to go there. So this health center was urgently needed for the area.

There is only one gynecologist working in the District Hospital, there is no other free health center for women. Pregnant women are facing lots of problems. In this situation pregnant women prefer to deliver their children at home rather than in hospital. Some pregnant women & children die during home delivery.

So according to need of women diseases STAR took this step. The main objectives of this center are:

  • To give free health facilities (included medicines & check up) especially for women.
  • Provide services for pregnant women.
  • To raise awareness in the community about health problems especially for women by arranging free camps in different villages.
  • To provide free ambulance services for remote areas.
